Program Assessment for Certifications

Assessments are valuable tools for coaches and consultants because they: 1) provide feedback, survey (quantitative) data can be used repeatedly, 2) illustrate progress, tracking for short-term and long-term decision-making, and 3) help business owners save time, well developed assessments increase effectiveness and efficiency. These are opportunities to increase adult learners' connection to your content, establish a replicable process for designing learning experiences, and expand your teaching and facilitation skills to reinforce adult learning through effective instructional design.

Certification programs are critical to demonstrating one's professional credibility. The International Association of Online Business Managers' certification program had  student feedback but had not been used strategically to make improvements. After overhauling the certification curriculum, I introduced the benefits of using quantitative surveys and together we created an assessment for students when they've completed the certification program.

Assessments provide clear insights about what needs improving. In this case, we used instructional design and adult learning best practices to strategically improve the certification curriculum. The program coaches were also provided recommendations for how to effectively facilitate group sessions. After the last student exam was graded they were asked to complete an assessment of their experience, here are some assessment results on these main questions... on a scale of 1 to 5:

How would you rate the content of the training (the topics & curriculum that was delivered)

- February 2021 - avg is 2.96

- July 2022 - avg is 4.85

How would you rate your trainer (the way in which the program was delivered)

- February 2021 - avg is 3.12

- July 2022 - avg is 4.85

How would you rate the outcomes of the program (how prepared you felt to work at the OBM level)

- February 2021 - avg is 2.56

- July 2022 - avg is 4.38

Client's Feedback

I just have to share this with you, as I remember us talking about it when we started the training update process last year. We've continued to survey folks as they come out of the training and I'm happy to report that we've had some major shifts!I remember you saying that the proof of progress will show itself in these ratings.... and it really has! Thanks so much for your support in all of this... we couldn't have done it without you. 💜
