For new, underrepresented, and traditionally marginalized individuals learning for career advancement can be an extraordinary hurdle..... There is evidence that suggests these women benefit from meaningful and effective mentoring relationships. However, diverse women faculty often report that current models of mentoring and mentoring behavior do not meet their needs. For ethnically diverse women faculty, workplace mentors who facilitated their learning to meet protégé identified needs effectively supported their career advancement.
