Transform your idea challenges into achievable wins

Here are two examples of focusing on the big end result and feeling frustrated along the way:

1. I need a new car. All I want is something with four wheels that will get me safely from point A to point B. However, when I think about all the cars on the market today—gas, hybrid, electric—I'm overwhelmed. Then, when I consider going to a dealership and dealing with car salespeople, I'm already frustrated and feeling defeated. I know I need a new car, but I'm so overwhelmed thinking about it that I can't even begin.

2. I need to get into better shape, specifically lose some weight and improve my blood pressure. However, when I think about how my body is changing on this side of 50 and how much more effort I have to use, I'm discouraged before I even start. Then I think about what I have to give up—sleeping in and desserts—and what I have to take on—getting up early to go for a walk and exercise—I'm still discouraged.

In both cases, my focus is on all the steps and the end result at once, trying to achieve them simultaneously. Intellectually, I know this is not the best approach. But I can't get out of my own way and see it as a step-by-step process over time.

Here's the evolution that I've applied to both cases, and I encourage others to do the same. First, I remind myself that both are processes, and to be successful, they should be approached as slow and steady journeys with knowledgeable guidance.

I recently spoke with a seasoned tax preparer, Katherine (pseudonym), who has been thinking about creating a program to train new tax preparers and bookkeepers. Kat is so overwhelmed by all the factors that it's getting in her way of getting started.

My heart goes out to Kat because I've been there, and I'm sure you have too – wanting to do something but being so overwhelmed you can't think clearly.

Within 8 minutes (all the time she had), I encouraged her that there is help available, a process she can use to organize her thoughts, create quickly with excitement and no stress, then present it like the seasoned professional she is.

My story and Kat's reminded me of your desire to revamp or even create a training program. I know you're overwhelmed just thinking about it. But you can have support, clarity, joy, peace, focus, and a product you love.

Yes, there's an 8-week program with only 10 spots available starting October 1, where you'll get personal support and a clear process. You can learn more here [insert link].
